My family and I attended the Cirque du Soleil Kurios opening night this past Wednesday at Dodger Stadium.  (Don’t fret Dodgers Fans, it’s not actually on the playing field.)  Cirque du Soleil Kurios brought "hands down" the BEST show to LA and there was absolutely no shortage of steampunk-ness and pure astonishment!  It was the best show that I’ve ever seen under a big top and I’m starting to think it tops all the other live shows too.

My kids lit up as soon as we drove into the parking lot and saw the yellow and blue tents.   While we were en route to enter the tent we we’re greeted by friendly Cirque du Soleil performers and the mouthwatering smell of popcorn and cotton candy.  Once we got inside and the show started we felt like we were teleported back in time.  The décor, ambience and music all set the stage for a grand premier night in Los Angeles.

The set and character costumes had my boys and I in such awe and amazement.  My oldest said he felt like he was in a dreamland and my youngest felt like he went through a time machine.  I would definitely say that both descriptions were accurate.  Everyone from Nico the Accordion Man, who is really this amazing character that’s handy and helps most of the characters in some kind of clever way, to the very serious and authoritive Mr. Microcosmos who runs his own steam transporting device and yes it’s built into his costume.  To sum him up even more, he hauls around the out spoken Mini Lili, who like many women, speaks much of his mind for him.

Kurios is great for the family.  It will allow for your imagination to run wild and it really gave us a great conversation topic.  It’s amazing how our children see the world through their eyes.  The show is long, just about two hours so pace your little ones with the drinks and snacks.  There is a 20 minute intermission and bathrooms are located on the outside of the tents.  Also, if you can take this time to tour the tent while letting them stretch their legs, walking round the tent to see and take pictures with Cirque du Soliel Kurios props and performers.  Plan to arrive a few minutes early as they start the show promptly and have to guide you to your seat if you arrive later.  And you don’t want to miss the opening of Kurios.
