An Experience At The
2016 Los Angeles Auto Show
November 18-27
Los Angeles Convention Center

I attended press days for the Los Angeles Auto Show and saw that new cars can put a smile on everyone’s face.  As soon as you enter the West or South Hall your curiosity will rise in anticipation for what you’re about to see.

From a mom’s perspective, I was really impressed and happy to see the many activities for families with younger children.   By younger I mean under 10 years old.  As soon as you enter West Hall there is a KIDZONE sponsored by the all New Chrysler Pacifica.  They took care of every little detail including foam flooring, a ball pit, a groovy blue slide and a bright and vibrant color pallet everywhere.    Also, there is a resting place for parents and a charging station for electrical devices..so remember your wall charger!

For slightly older kids there are tablets with classic games on them like tic-tac-toe and checkers.  You can enter this area through a Chrysler Pacifica built into the wall…yes that’s an entry..so cool!  There are actual car seats inside that feel like you are actually inside the Pacifica complete with video screens on the back of the head rest and nice and soft cushioned seats.  And no play zone is complete without a photo booth, by The Original Traveling Photo Booth, and a wall to display all your cute and silly shots!

Moving on into the exhibit halls you’ll find cars galore.  Several booths also have interactive activities to be enjoyed by adults and kids.  Nissan’s booth is by far the most entertaining of them all.  They incorporated an incredible unveiling of the 2017 Nissan Rogue.  They achieved perfection with Star Wars and balls of fire!  The energy was incredible.  There are lots of photo ops in this booth, so come camera ready.

The Hyundai booth has entertainment for sports fans. There are big screen TVs to help you keep score of live games as well as play Madden Football on the Xbox One.  Want to race, got that covered too.  Join in on the fun in a simulated racing challenge.  You can get a glimpse into the well engineered driving experience of a race car and record your time using #HyundaiRacingChallenge.

Land Rover and Jaguar had a very glossy area, which was to be expected.   I was drawn to the many variations of the Land Rover that were on display and living in LA, you are an automatic honorary fan.  I sat inside of the 2017 Land Rover HSE and it was love at first site!  Another great highlight in the Land Rover/Jaguar booth was meeting the designer of the Land Rover Discovery,  Gerry McGovern.  That had to be a proud moment being on display at the LA Auto Show with international attendees.

There did come a time to isle down, pun intended…it’s an auto show!  Cadillac, an all American favorite has kept it’s classic and classy feel over numerous decades.  On display were the additions to the Cadillac family, with the Escalade being the most popular.  Their classiness held true to their hospitality as well.  Cadillac was the perfect destination for this experience.  They had fresh fruit, a variety of cheese and delicious wine.  It was suggested that I try the Mulder Bosch South African Red and I’m glad I did..it was yummy!

The 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show will definitely be the go to destination for those in Southern California for the next several days.  Families will enjoy new cars and several interactive activities.  There is plenty to see and do.  Concession stands are easy to find with a variety of food.  I saw everything from salad, to grilled chicken to family staples like burgers, chicken tenders and French fries.  Make a day out of it, this is the perfect family outing during the Thanksgiving holiday break.

No worries if you are not a car expert, it’s not required.  One thing I know for sure is that you’ll leave knowing some interesting facts about what you like and don’t like in an automobile!  LA Auto Show is at the Los Angeles Convention Center located at 1201 S. Figueroa St. Los Angeles 90015.
