Whole Foods Market has partnered with Roy Choi to open a stationary
Kogi location inside its El Segundo store. It's located within the 66,500-square-foot store’s prepared foods section, Kogi will offer a
menu of its famed tacos, burritos and favorites like Short Rib Tacos, Blackjack Quesadillas and Blue Moon Mulitas seven days a week from
10 a.m. - 10 p.m. All Kogi menu items meet Whole Foods Market’s strict
quality standards. This is the first Kogi taqueria within a Whole Foods Market store and Kogi’s first South Bay location.
Whole Foods Market team members, Roy Choi and community members broke a six foot loaf of bread to commemorate the partnership and grand re-opening of South Bay’s new and improved store, which has recently completed an expansive remodel.
I easily detected the hype upon arrival to the store and thought to myself about how much I LOVE FOOD and had almost missed out on the phenomenon of Kogi! I was lucky to speak with Roy Choi and have him recommend the Short Rib Taco and it was love at first bite! My taste buds could not foresee all of the perfectly blended flavors together. It was truly a beautiful marriage of Korean and Mexican food. I can't wait to take my family back for the experience as well.
I am pictured with Roy Choi. He was influenced by his parents who owned a restaurant during his childhood and a close family member suggested to him to come up with a way to serve good Korean food, Mexican style. The rest is history. And a delicious history it is. I am very excited to be a new fan of Roy Choi and Kogi.
While in Whole Foods Market I took a stroll around the store and have to report that I price compared to Ralph's...and I'm spending about the same amount of money on groceries that are not organic nor non GMO. I think the myth about Whole Foods Market being un-afforadable needs to be revisited. Of course the prices for the organic, grass feed and cage free meats were a bit more expensive, but it's worth it. It's your health and just cut down on the meat portions! It really works. The next time you're in the El Segundo area stop into Whole Foods for a couple of Kogi tacos and take a stroll around the beautifully remodeled store. You'll be happy you did.
