As part of its yearlong 50th anniversary celebration,   KCET, the nation's largest independent, public television station serving Southern and Central California, will host a family screening event of its animated, preschool series, SPACE RACERS®, produced in collaboration with NASA experts. The event, celebrating KCET's 50 years of education and community service, will take place on Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Skirball Cultural Center beginning at 1 p.m.

SPACE RACERS® follows young spaceship cadets at the Stardust Space Academy as they soar through the solar system. Young viewers learn about the power of scientific investigation and observation, the wonders of space exploration, and the importance of working together as a team, all with fun and engaging characters they can relate to.  The series follows spaceships: Eagle, Hawk, Robyn, Starling and Raven, along with their fellow cadets and teachers at the Stardust Space Academy.

KCET's SPACE RACERS® event will offer four screening times beginning at 1 p.m., as well as fun activities and giveaways. It will take place on Southern California's "Museums Free-for-All" day, a citywide event when more than 20 museums, including the Skirball, offer free admission to the public.  In addition, series director Mark Risley, writer David H. Steinberg and voice actors Yuri Lowenthal (Eagle), Alicyn Packard (Robyn), and Meyer deLeeuw (Hawk) will be on-site to discuss their roles and to answer questions from young viewers.
