Whole Foods Market celebrates Earth Day April 22 organic produce SALE

By Edited by Selena Hughes April 20, 2017

Earth Day is global event, celebrated on April 22 and is dedicated to bringing awareness and support for environmental protection.  There are several ways to celebrate Earth Day.  This year Whole Foods Market is celebrating by running a one day sale on organic produce.

How exactly does organic food production benefit our environment?

  • Organic farming, by definition, does not use environmentally harmful chemicals that may contaminate rain and groundwater.
  • Organic farming also replenishes and maintains healthy, fertile topsoil with rich biological matter, which limits erosion and impact on waterways.
  • Unique types of crops and livestock are more likely to be raised organically, which helps to keep the gene pool for food products diversified and help avoid extinction due to species-specific issues.

Customers will receive $5 off any purchase of $25 or more of organic produce on April 22, 2017 Earth Day only.

Whole Foods Market is celebrating Earth Day with organic produce for its many environmental benefits. Organic farming does not use environmentally harmful chemicals that may contaminate rain and groundwater; and this growing method replenishes and maintains healthy, fertile topsoil with rich biological matter, which limits erosion and impact on waterways.

Other organic standards include no toxic or persistent pesticides or herbicides, no sewer sludge or synthetic fertilizers, no GMOs, no antibiotics, no synthetic growth hormones and no irradiation.
